10 Photos Snapped With A Smartphone That Won The Annual Mobile Photography Awards

People believe they need an expensive camera to take good photos, and then they believe they need an even more expensive lens, and so on. In fact, all you need is your phone and a combination of creativity and abilities. And, in some cases, the findings are much better than those obtained with more costly equipment. This is known as the toolbox fallacy: The gist of it is that people wrongly believe they need a long list of resources to do something when, in reality, something minimal would suffice.

The winners and runners-up of the 10th annual Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) competition have been announced. MPA is the longest-running international competition that honors and rewards cell phone and tablet photography.

Over 5,700 photographs from 75 countries were submitted. Photo Essays, Transportation, Street Photography, Photojournalism, Black & White, and Digital Fine Art were among the 20 categories in which participants entered their work.
