A Cancer-Affected Dog Lives Long Enough to Reunite with Her Father

Dog Defies Cancer To See Her Owner Again

Kermie was taken to the vet a month after her owner stationed her due to foul breath. Kermie had cancer, and the news was not good. Kermie was given only two or three months to live, but she had other ideas. She was adamant about not dying until her owner returned from his nine-month deployment.

Eric Ralston, a principal sanitarium corpsman in the US Navy, was stationed there last March. When his wife took their 11-year-old Lab-Beagle-Chow Chow mix Kermie for a scan a month after he was stationed, she realised Kermie’s breath had become quite filthy.

Kermie was diagnosed with oral carcinoma after an examination, and the stagers believe he only has two or three months to live. “To put it mildly, we were crushed,” Jennifer Ralston said. “We didn’t think Eric would ever see Kermie again because she was our first child.” Kermie, on the other hand, was not ready to say goodbye without seeing Eric.

After three months, Kermie was still around, and when Eric’s employment came to an end, the family began to hope that Kermie might see him again. They were adamant about assisting her in seeing Eric one more time.

Eric’s deployment was also extended 12 days before he was meant to return home. The leaves were falling, and the Ralstons were worried Kermie wouldn’t make it to Christmas when Eric returned. Kermie, on the other hand, continued to defy the odds. Eric arrived home a few days before Christmas, and Kermie was there as well. She had a red arc on her head and was recorded on videotape fleeing from the house into Eric’s arms.

Kermie had felt like she was on her last legs before Eric’s return, but with him, she had new life. “His homecoming was like a magical lozenge for her,” Jennifer explained. “She was able to eat and drink again without difficulty.” In January, Kermie celebrated her 12th birthday, but by February, she had taken a turn for the worse. “We knew it was time when excellent days came with good hours,” Jennifer explained. Kermie passed away on February 22nd after a long battle with cancer. Eric and the rest of her family had gathered around her.
