Her work expresses her identity as an art director, painter, illustrator, sometimes animator, vegan, and animal lover.
Yaoyao Ma Van As, an animator based in Los Angeles, has worked with a variety of companies, including Disney TV Animation, Warner Brothers Animation, Rick and Morty, Stoopid Buddy Studios, and Starburns Industries, but today we’ll focus on her personal art project, a collection of heartwarming drawings about a girl and her puppy.
“A multitude of factors inspire my artistic ideas, but my primary source of inspiration is my companion dog Parker,” the artist told Bored Panda. “He’s been the centre of our universe since we adopted him about four years ago.”
Yaoyao Ma Van As has been interested in painting since she was a child. “I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, but just occasionally and never really.” I started doing these drawings a year and a half ago as a means to get back into drawing.
When asked how she develops her fascinating drawings, the artist responded, “I use Photoshop, normally start with a rough design, then work in the local colours, adding lighting as I go.” She spends roughly 2-4 hours on each piece. “I’m still pushing myself to try new things, although trial and error might take a long time.”
Below are some of Yaoyao Ma Van As’s stunning illustrations. These tales are based on real-life incidents or interactions, on living with your greatest friends, on ups and downs, and they show the true beauty of selfless friendship.
